Become a
Mamabear Surrogate

Surrogacy is one of the most rewarding experiences.

We welcome surrogates into a supportive sisterhood of advocates who walk alongside you through the process of bringing light into someone’s life. With Mamabear, you get the support of our team and so much more. You’ll meet like-minded surrogates who can become lifelong friends. You’ll have the support of an active, private surrogate forum. And you’ll be invited to participate in an all-expense-paid annual weekend retreat for all members of our surrogate community.

Surrogate Timeline

1. Application & Interview

Once a Surrogate applies online, an extensive interview and consultation is scheduled to determine eligibility and discuss the surrogacy process.

2. Psychological Screening

In this phase, the Surrogate undergoes a psychological evaluation as part of the preliminary screening.

3. Profile Published

Once the Surrogate has passed all preliminary screening, her profile will become active and published in the database, where Intended Parents will be able to view her profile.

4. Meeting

Once mutually interested, we will facilitate an in-person or online meeting between the Intended Parents and Surrogate to determine compatibility.

5. Official Match

If both parties wish to move forward after the meeting, the match will become official and coordination with the IVF clinic will begin.

6. Medical Screening

The Surrogate and her partner (if applicable) will undergo a medical screening appointment at the Intended Parents’ IVF clinic to determine if the Surrogate has any issues that would preclude her from being a Surrogate.

7. Legal

Once the Surrogate has been medically cleared to proceed with the surrogacy, the drafting and execution of the legal contract between the Intended Parents and Surrogate will begin.

8. IVF Transfer

When the legal contract has been finalized, the Surrogate will begin her cycle medications in preparation for the IVF transfer, which will take place according to her cycle calendar and receptiveness to the medications.

9. Pregnancy Test

Ten days post-transfer, the Surrogate will test to confirm pregnancy.

Focusing on You

dreams come true

We match Prospective Parents with Gestational Surrogates using our two-step matching protocol. Whenever possible, the first step is an in-person consultation with the Prospective Parents. The Genesis Group interviews the Prospective Parents and matches them with an appropriate Surrogate based on five criteria:

1. Expectations

We consider the type of relationship that the Intended Parents and the Surrogate are looking for.

2. Personality

Since surrogacy is a long process, it’s important that the Prospective Parents and the Surrogate are compatible.

3. Geography

Locale can play an important role in facilitating good relationships between Surrogates and Intended Parents.

4. Special Requests

We believe that each match is unique, and we’re happy to facilitate special requests if all parties are in accord.

5. Timing

It’s crucial that the Surrogate and Prospective Parents have the same expectations about timing.

“My experience as a surrogate was a beautiful one. The level of care taken to match me with the IP’s really made a difference. We will be friends for a long time to come.”

Make someone’s
dreams come true.

If you’d like to help a person or couple achieve their parenting dreams through surrogacy, Genesis will take care of you each step of the way.

Surrogates Q&A

What are the health risks of being a Surrogate?

The health risks are very similar to a normal pregnancy, but it is best to speak with your personal OB/GYN.

Once the baby is born, will I have contact with the Parent(s)?

This will depend entirely on you and the Prospective Parent(s). Some Surrogates maintain a very close relationship, while others have no contact after the birth. It is imperative to express your expectations prior to being matched.

I had my tubes tied. Can I be a Surrogate?

Absolutely!

How much will I be compensated?

Surrogate compensation ranges from $35,000 to $70,000 depending on experience.

Will this process cost me anything?
No! The Prospective Parents will pay for all fees and costs related to the cycle. If you require specific testing (or retesting) directly related to your own health outside of the normal Surrogate screening process in order to clear you to proceed with a surrogacy cycle, you may be responsible for those costs.
